I build the narrative and the assets that make your organization's identity clear, shared, and usable: for your employees, your investors, your partners, and the talent you're trying to win and keep.
Whether you're launching something new, navigating a leadership transition, scaling faster than your story, or protecting a culture through a merger.
You're carving out a new vertical and need a story that explains why you, why now, to the market and to your own team.
You're a startup doing remarkable work you still can't explain in a sentence anyone repeats.
You've scaled faster than your story: new faces who never absorbed what the place stands for, and a culture that's thinning out as you add people.
You're a legacy organization that has drifted from its own story and needs reminding who it is and why it still matters.
You're navigating a leadership transition, and everyone's quietly wondering whether the organization's identity walks out the door with the person who's leaving.
You're going through a merger or acquisition and refuse to let your culture get swallowed whole in the integration.
The mission statement goes generic, the loudest voice in the room sets the tone, or in a merger the bigger company's culture quietly wins by inertia. The result: every audience hears something slightly different, your people can't tell the story consistently, and the thing that actually made you worth joining or investing in gets blurred at exactly the moment it matters most.
Identity, turned into things your organization can actually deploy.
An identity playbook : Vision, mission, values, and the core story, captured in one usable document everyone pulls from. (A manifesto is the punchy, public-facing expression of this.)
An onboarding narrative program : The story a new hire absorbs in week one, built from VVID™ building blocks.
A merger or transition narrative: Identity carried intact through a moment that would otherwise dissolve it.
A voice and messaging guide : How your leadership and organization actually sound and what you say, translated for the audiences that matter: investors, recruits, partners, the all-hands.
A culture or values program : Values made real and usable, not poster-ware.
A launch or repositioning story: The narrative for a new vertical, a new market, or a new chapter.
A project moves through four stages, the applied version of my VVID™ method (the full seven-phase framework lives on the VVID™ Method page):
Surface who you actually are (not the aspirational poster version), and get the key people in agreement on it.
Turn that into a clear, true core narrative with soul, not slogan.
Translate the narrative into the specific, usable pieces each audience needs.
Leave you with assets your team can carry forward without me.
Scoped in three depths: Essentials (3 months), Advantage (6 months), or Evolve (12 months).
This isn't a logo, a tagline, or a marketing campaign; those express a brand, while this defines the identity underneath it. And it isn't an ongoing communications seat. This is built, handed over, and yours to carry.
If what you need is someone to keep it aligned over time, week to week, through whatever comes, that's the Fractional CCO work, and we should talk about that instead. Many organizations start here and grow into that.
I deal in true stories told well. Mission-driven and regulated organizations often believe their identity has to be flattened into something safe and soulless, and in a merger, the assumption is that someone's culture has to lose. Neither is true. If humans run your operations, there is a real story worth telling and worth protecting, and compliance doesn't have to cost you connection. Soul and rigor, distinct identity and a clean transition, all at once; that's the work I care about most.
